Decorative Concrete at MidTown

Client Need: Midtown LLC decided to create a new housing development just minutes from downtown Denver. Considered a new boutique neighborhood with arts, entertainment and restaurants, the landscape architect realized the importance for the amenities building to have the same upbeat vibe.

Solution: Norris Design created an outdoor living area at the shared amenities building complete with indoor/outdoor seating and fire places. The amenities building will serve as a hub of activity for the new community, right next to the community garden. Norris designed the flatwork with specialty Lithocrete, exposed aggregate, and Sandscape. The amenities building itself has large garage doors which open up on two sides, allowing the building to be used in all weather and extend into the outdoor space. In the building, the same concrete mix was placed and polished to incorporate the open design when the garage doors of the building are opened to create a seamless flow in concrete colors and finishes.

Results: Colorado Hardscapes placed the specialty concrete along with custom walls for the entry to the space and the fireplace at the building. The decorative paving adds to the overall design intent and helps bring the sense of community together in this community space.
