Designed by Wenk, the new Student Commons at the Auraria Tivoli campus embraces the history, connectivity, and student life. The large lawn is embraced by a concrete path that hugs the space while shifting the focus back onto the historic Tivoli building. The landscape architect used a simple yet historic palette of concrete, utilizing standard broom finish concrete and Sandscape texture. By mixing the finishes throughout the site, it added enough subtle variety to not take away from the campus itself. Some of the old classrooms are even marked out by subtle Sandscape bands – showing that the details in the design can help tell a story while creating unique site enhancements. Thank you to Pinkard Construction for bringing Colorado Hardscapes on board this unique yet iconic project!
