Homeplate Park is a Home Run!

Norris Design envisioned an interactive water feature for a park at the new Midtown residential development in Denver. The design called for an interactive stream and a splash pad. With multiple surfaces and an intricate design, the concrete finishes needed special attention.

Colorado Hardscapes worked with Norris Design and Arrow J Landscaping to create the concrete streams and pads for the water play areas. Using primarily Sandscape, the artisans at Colorado Hardscapes created a safe, slip resistant surface for both the splash pad and the interactive stream. To add interest, they also embedded cobble and varied the etch in certain areas of the stream. The stream and elevations were tricky, but the end result allows children to explore water flow and movement while playing in the water.

Colorado Hardscapes’ installed the decorative concrete at the stream, splash pad, and the formliner walls and radial steps on the park’s site. The end result is an engaging park for the new residences popping up around the development.
